I don't know if this is the right thread to discuss this in: It looks like an awesome tape in an awesome tape deck. But I notice one of the features of the deck is "4 motors". Isn't that kind of overkill?

Yes, overall a great photo. ___

That's what I'm wondering. I know that 3 motors can mean capstan motor, reel motor, and control motor, but does 4 motors mean that there's a separate motor for each reel? Or is it separate motors for each capstan like the Dragon?

Yes, I have one, and each reel has its own motor, and each motor is connected to its reel via a small belt. So, more belts but they are simple.
