Turntables/Vinyl in Movies & TV

As we have a thread for reel to reels in movies why not a separate one for Turntables & vinyl in movies and TV?

I'll start:

A VPI Classic with a Grado cartridge on Law & Oder...(Also what looks like a Carver TFM series amp under the preamp):

The scene from Tarantino's Jackie Brown comes to mind where Max Cherry is at Jackie's apartment and she has LPs all over the living room and starts playing one. Can't find a video clip or still shot of it.

There's also a scene in the first season of Mad Men where they're listening to The Button Down Mind of Bob Newhart and comparing him to Lenny Bruce. I think that record was made a few years before the time period of Mad Men and thought it odd that a bunch of ad guys had only just discovered it.

EDIT: Nah, the Newhart record was made in 1960. It's period appropriate.

Dont remember what he had but Hi Fidelity had a butload of records in it.

Another old 80's movie that some might have seen, Trick Or Treat, has a Technics linear tracker I believe, along with a lot of 80's music stuff. Gene Simmons plays a Radio DJ, and Ozzy plays a preacher in it.

I mentioned this in another thread; check out "Mike and Molly". Carl's mother has a tt, I think a Sony, a couple of gold records on the wall and even a neat silk screen print of her tt on the wall.

Also, on "Grimm" Monroe, the Blutblot, has a nice setup. Since he's german, everything in home is german and so, his TT, naturally, is an old Dual.

Toni worked in a Record Shop in Cactus Flower. It was of course in 1969, so nothing but vinyls and a couple of 8tracks could be seen there.

The first victim in "Basic instinct" had a turntable. He was a rock singer and it was in the 1991 .

In "Se7en", Brad Pitt had a turntable. I can only guess that the reason to be present was to show the passing-by of the subway train (every 10 minutes a train passed by shacking the whole flat, which also made the turntable skip).

I think it was in the movie "The Mechanic" in 2011, where Jason Statham had a funky record player; he would take the record out and wipe it with an antistatic cloth before playing it, made him look like a professional audiophile.

Records featured a lot in Almost Famous (one of my all time favourite films) found the deleted Stairway to Heaven scene on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra9YR1ze0w0. Also the extended 'America' scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUcBIF6MlPA

Three Days Of The Condor - 1975 - Robert Redford.

What looks like a Garrard table and Sherwood receiver, then a console and then a cassette record.

The next 3 pics are a DEC PDP-8 computer with DecTape drives, a DecWriter and a VT-52 monitor. Those ran an OS called PIP.

Motorola sent me to DEC in Mass to learn those and were the first DEC computers I worked on there. I had been working on even older CDC 1700 systems before that.

In Ice Age 3, Scrat and his red-furry mate mimic a turntable from a rock and a tree. Understandable at that geological age
