Print thru

Is print thru more of a problem with type I tapes vs. type IV? Less of a problem with shorter length tapes such as 60 minutes vs. 90? Higher level recordings vs. lower?

Humm.... Interesting question!
I can't say I know the answer but my thought is maybe thinner tapes of longer lengths would be more likely to develop print through as the magnetic fields would be a little closer to the adjacent wind.
I could be wrong though.

Cassette tapes are always thinner, so the length is not determinant. So the recorded level.
Particle magnetization plays the most important role - yes, type IV is less prone.

Just like in open reel the thinner tape will have more print through and the tapes that have lower coercivity levels will be more subject to the transfer thus Metal that take a hell of an amount to magnetize it will not be likely to have print through.
Add to this that some people record hip hop at +10 levels and then wonder why they get print through- it is like hitting your head against the wall and then asking why does my head hurt?

So recording at an extremely high level will also cause print thru?

All magnetic tapes have print-throu, only that you cannot always identify it by the ear.
