Dont you hate or love it when they call e mediocre budget deck a "Dragon Killer" ?

I like rooting for the under dog but is it fair and honest to claim a 300 deck sunds better than a fine tuned musical work of art machine called a Nak Dragon just so for a sale? I find it Dishonest and deceiving.

You bought a "Dragon killer", you compared it with your Dragon, and drew those conclusions?

just make a research of all the threads he started (which are quite a lot, btw)... sort of an endless quiz for us all...

don't know now... but in the past we discovered our dear "Vince from Canada" was simply a deck dealer/flipper... and so he needed all of our points of view (also in regards of prices, and not only about quality) to simply put his "prices" on the decks to sell while optimizing his profit.... no more no less... this is why all of these questions thrown at us all.

just give a careful read here: http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=17237

"Dragon Killer"... there I said it....

It's like one of those over used catchphrase words that gets tossed around that becomes annoying to read eventually.

Honestly when I read it in the context of someone trying to sell me a tape deck my opinion is instantly lowered. It's just one of those words that when used enough becomes annoying to my brain and takes me in a more guarded negative place. Another example of a word I NEVER use to describe myself is an "Audiophile". It just reeks of elitism and self-centeredness . I mean.. I'm probably full of all that if I'm honest but why make it worse by full on acknowledging it with my mouth.

Maybe it's time for a new catch phrase.

I've been buying a lot of iPod killers these last several months. Of course it's not much of a challenge to find one of those I suppose.

It is the underdog reference dilemma, we see it in the hifi industry all the time,
"Better than Linn Sondek" is a common one...

You compare to the best you know to create a wake.... pure sales tactics..

Why don't they use the term 'Dragon Slayer'? People say the Nak CR7 is a dragon slayer, but the only naks I've heard were 2 headers and they were 'ok', easily slayed by most things with 3 heads.

CHEERS,

Duly noted, Vince from Italy. I should have known better than to get sucked in by what his real intent is.

Actually, i cannot know which the real intent is now... but in the past the situation was quite clear and, btw, the habit of starting more threads each day with similar questions as before seems very similar.

In the first thread i've linked above, he was sort of giving us all a head-up to "someone else's" auction with many high quality and rare decks (and with "equally important" price) to simply discover a bit later that it was just his own auction.... basicly, he had made a lot of threads by asking us which deck was good or not or better or worse to get all the help to simply put the "high" prices on them all and then to return here and advertize his "someone else's" auction to us all like a great deal... not too fair, i'd say...

And it seems i still have a very good memory, after all.

CHEERS,

Vince (from Italy).

if you want to throw away your money at a so called dragon slayer deck be my guest but ill stick with buying his siblings. I work hard for my money. To those criticizing me i ask the questions that should be asked and its for those who dont want to get sucked in spending big bucks needlessly. You work hard for your money and should question whatever you buy. Remember popular opiono dont always help make the right decisions.

Then spending your hard worked money on obsolete technology won't be a good idea.

If one buys a deck based upon no knowledge and someone else's use of the phrase "Dragon-killer," one gets what one deserves.

"The questions that should be asked?" That's a riot. I haven't seen a substantially meaningful question from you, yet.

One that is annoying is being told that anything not made by Nakamichi or Tandberg is crap.

Naughty

Technically if you call something a "Dragon Killer" you're sort of admitting that the Nakamichi Dragon set the reference (standard) for great sound.

The only thing that bugs me is when the Dragonphiles claim it's as good as a reel to reel.

ignorance is bliss. Just because one doesnt understand dont mean it dont make sense. Maybe its beyond ones scope of depth and intelligence. I cant help that.

It doesnt make sense to complain about that here, why dont you send a mail to the seller of these decks and tell them how offended you are by their marketing methods instead?

I have a Dragon. I bought because I wanted it. I could care less what other people think about it. I bought for me not to impress someone else.
