I'm recording Led Zeppelin I through Physical Graffiti from the Japanese Vinyl "Forever Young" series onto Sony UX-Pro cassettes on my Nakamichi ZX-7. Pushing to about +5db and occasional peaks at +7db. So far the results are great!

I've been on a recording binge lately. Taking a page from nobody and stuartypoorty I've rummaged through my collection and pulled out the 12" EPs, singles and 12" promos. With no regard for any kind of order I recorded anything and everything in continuous sessions. Since I have a myriad of TDK D 90s on hand I decided to use only those for this experiment. It's been a lot of fun listening to many artists I normally would not. I also discovering just how many of these (12" singles) I have, quite a few. I keep finding these things as I dig through my collection and will keep on until I've got them all on tape. Just for the hell of it.
As my digital camera is dead and I've not replaced it yet I can only scan a few covers to show you the diversity of the collection. Sorry for the upside down image, it's not that way in the original and I can't seem to make it go right.

Nice picks for music for those tapes, timbo. Have you used the dbx 1BX in the recording loop?

Source music

Side A: The Freewheeling Bob Dylan (original 6-eye mono)
Side B: Miles Davis: Milestones (original 6-eye mono)

Played on a Rek-O-Kut N34H with Esoteric Sound motor/controller and Micropoise tonearm, using a Stanton 680SL cartridge. Imported to Goldwave through a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD @ 24 bit/96kHz and processed in izotope for summing to mono and minor click repair.

Played back using Foobar through the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD and recorded with a Nakamichi RX-505 onto a Maxell XLII-S 100 using Dolby B

Turned out quite nicely, but I still need to make some cover art.

No, I have it running through the 2nd tape input on my Pioneer SA-7500 and only use it in the SOURCE and POST setting for play back only. I might experiment with using it whilst recording, just not sure what music to use, maybe classical?

I only ever bought one type III. It was a BASF. Something strange happened with that cassette. I came back to what I had previously recorded on it after some time of not listening to it and the sound of the music had become garbled. I checked, of course, to see if there was any sticking in the motion of the tape and it seemed as free as your typical cassette both in and out of the deck. I've never had that experience with any other tape.
