Scary Movies

Anybody watching any of the Frightfest movie marathons their showing on TV for Halloween? I like the old black and white stuff myself. I have a bunch of VHS tapes I recorded years ago. Last night I dug out a VCR and watched
  1. White Zombie-Legosi
  2. The Body Snatcher-Karloff
  3. The Ghoul-Karloff
I have lots more. I think I like them cause ther're not really scary just eerie.

That show that was on last night, I think it was called "The Debate" was pretty damn scary....

Yeah I didn't have the nerve (or balls) to watch that horror show.

I love those old movies by universal. I usually watch my movies rather than the marathons.

Black Sabbath with Boris Karloff was pretty creepy and holds up well.
Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price is a good one.
Any of the Vincent Price, Edgar Allan Poe adaptations - like the The Pit and the Pendulum - are classics and scary IMHO.

I had forgotten about Theater of Blood.
Scary? Not so much but definitely my first gross-out movie as a kid.

I just re-watched Theater Of Blood a couple of weeks ago for the first time since college. I had forgotten it had Diana Rigg in it. It was very similar to Price's "Dr Phibes" movies.
I love all the old Vincent Price movies especially the Roger Korman done versions of the Poe stories. My favorite is "The Black Cat" with Price and Peter Lorre from the movie "Trilogy of Terror". Its really 2 Poe stories blended together The Black Cat and the Cask of Amontillado. Its not really scary and if fact its funny. I had read somewhere it was meant to be serious but the actors started ad-libbing and they just went with it.

The Deadly Mantis and The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra are two of my favorites.

More Old Movies

In the last few days I watched some more old tapes. Most of these movies are 1:10 long and from the 30's & 40's
  1. The Walking Dead-Karloff
  2. The Black Cat-Karloff
  3. King Of The Zombies-No one you ever heard of!
Karloff's The Walking Dead would never be confused with the AMC series
