got audio storage shed? whats it look like in there?

got an audio shed? whats it look like in there? i'm currently cleaning out and reorganizing after over a decade of neglect. fortunately i still came by my moms place and roach bombed the place on occasion.

about half the bins you see in those pics are now filled with vacuum tubes. about 1/3 of them are audio related tubes. over a decade ago i installed some used solar panels on the roof and bolted the cooling fan from a wrecked car to the side of the shed. sun comes up, fan runs, sun goes down, fan stops. i truly believe this is what has helped things last soo long in there. the hot air flowing during the day lessened the damage from south Fl humidity.

COOL!

KE, I SEE LOTS OF THINGS IN THAT SHED I WANT!

now, with that out of the way, yes, i too have a audio shed of my forgotton youth full of lost relics of my past, lucky for you, yours is metal, and you have a fan.

mine on the other hand, dose not. its a 2 car 100 year old garage thats made of wood and has been decaying via termites, roof leaks, and 10+ years of neglect. its also 250 miles away in orlando so its kinda hard to get to., everytime i go back i always stop by to check things out and end up taking some stuff home with me. last time i went up, i dragged 40 or so recievers back down to west palm with me. that was spring of 2010. god knows how bad it looks now. here are some pics i snapped of it last time i was up there. the place is a absolute disaster.

I have an indoor "shed" (actually a second, unused bedroom). It's unheated (no heating vents there), but insulated. So it's about 15C in there in the winter (wondering how it will be this summer), that I use to store excess gear, broken gear, and stuff that I'm fixing, along with a ton of extra cable.

I have TWO sheds. The older shed is well packed and gear has fared well over 6 winters as it sits directly behind the house and two huge trees act as a break. They are also nearly a foot of the ground, something I feel helps and everyting but a few speaker cabinets are all off the floor as well. There is some paneling on some of the walls and any holes in the floor were covered.

The new shed has gear and bike parts. Working on both sheds has been a real pleasure, especially configuring my new shed.

My spare bedroom is for media storage and is where my bench sits.

I don't have a shed but one of the closets in my house has:

my old Sansui receiver - amp from mid 1980s that has a hum,

Pioneer receiver - amp from 1996 (I forget the model) that works but I hate the sound. I keep it as a spare "just in case,"

a Luxman tape deck with a broken circuit board,

An ADC sound shaper one ten equalizer that back in 2001 fell 6 feet from a shelf onto a cement floor,

A Neumark mixer that works but I have no room to set it up,

Two eight track player - recorders,

Old Audiovox automotive tape deck that plays both four and eight tracks,

A Radio Shack cassette adapter for eight track players in the original box,

A storage container of my old eight track tapes (approximately 20 tapes, both pre recorded and home made)

A briefcase style container of vintage 1960s "stag" films (soft stuff by today's standards)

My Grandfather's 1964 Emerson reel to reel tape recorder,

Various photographic slides, a briefcase of spotlights, a 1951 8 mm movie camera, a Bell and Howell 8 and super 8 movie projector, and related photo equipment that once belonged to my grandfather,

and that's just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head. I don't recall everything that's stored in the boxes on the shelf.

Most everything i have i keep in my listening space, save for 3 pieces of equipment that sit on the floor in my room. Bose 1801, Pioneer RT1011L, and Fostex G16S. Other then that i try not to "stock" gear as the woman starts to get unruly when there is too much laying around.

Man i thought stereorob had a lot of stuff Ke4 you got quite the stash there.

Stereorob it looks like you either spilled something on your self or maybe wet your pants in that last pic LOL

Pretty much most of my 5000 sf house is an audio storage shed. No furniture to waste valuable storage space here...

Even have a guard cat.

there's a 40 foot semi half filled with bins at my dads boat shop in key largo as well. i'm liquidating though. i had my hands in too many electronics hobbies. the vintage computers are going, much of the ham radio stuff is going, some of the antique radios are going, most of the Japanese receivers are already gone.

i'm working on digitizing all my reels and then i'll trim down to one or two reel to reel decks and liquidate those as well.

As for those Vintage PCs, you might want to talk to Knight2001. He is a new member of TH, but he is a coworker of mine, and he is probably quite interested. Might wanna fire him off a PM, or even me, and I will relay the message.

I store all of my audio equipment that I don't use on shelves on my bedroom. That consists of a National NC-60 radio (which I rescued from the garbage but never tested) and a Sony TC-V7 deck (belts needs replacing).

I honestly hope that I never have as much gear as some of you do. I just don't know what I'd do with myself, or with the gear. If you're not using it, why keep it?

I dont need a shed (well I do, but I just use a spare bedroom). this is where a few sets of extra (read: junk) tower speakers, my 1942 victrola, whats left of a '68 RCA console, my extra P.A. equipment, and a couple old boomboxes reside, along with furniture from my den (getting remodeled), several boxes of spare misc cadillac parts, and my non audio hobby stuff.

Not in a shed, but this room is where our incoming audio (repairs and consignment) is stored.
