Teac A-4010's

Hi Group,

The apostrophe is intentional. I'm talking about all varieties of the 4010 of which I have a slew - like 7 with another one in transit. Not only that, I stopped at my best friend's house last night and he showed me two new decks for us to work on. You guessed it; 2 4010's.

The serial numbers range from low 106000's to high 170000's if memory is serving me correctly. At the very least I have 2 that are very early models with no field mods of any kind. All the manuals I have are the typical poorly scanned stuff you can get for free. This also includes the ones I paid good money for.

If anyone has any tidbits about the older electronics, you are welcome to send them my way. I'm tempted to hire Sam for a couple hours at his going rate to take some waveforms with a calibrated scope. I use a scope for most of my work except when I have to measure voltages; then I use a meter; ANALOG of course.

Sam mentioned at one time or another that these things are built like a tank - how true. They do sound pretty good once serviced and properly aligned. The electronics are a bit of a headache. I prefer my X-10R.

Keep the faith and remember tube equipment makes a great space heater.
