Still haven't figured out what the exact model of Electrohome we had, but it might be the HVR36, or possibly the 35. The Mitsubishi variant (Electrohome was a Mitsubishi vcr) model was the HS-3161UR model from 1985. Here is a pic of the Mits version. My model and the Mits is a second generation model, as the original was the 316 which looked very similar in 1984.

So far nobody mentioned VCR of my youth. Uncle brought us very cheap Japan Shintom VCR 550 from Germany. I loved it.

More than likely dating myself because back in my childhood mom and dad did not have a VCR. But, my kids will remember the first VCR we owned. It was a Mitsubishi HS-U51 and I bought it along with a Mitsubishi 27" monitor. The VCR was expensive - over $1000 and the monitor was a great deal at $625. That VCR lasted another generation as I gave it to our son when he moved out of the house after getting his own place. As a family we didn't do a lot of travelling on vacation, but we did enjoy watching many movies together. So, that Mitsubishi system got many hours of use.

I have a couple of other VCRs, and a Beta deck. Here is one of them:

Nando,

That Sony was one of my favorite VHS decks. Rock solid.
Only the blue loading gear seems to break now and again. A great mechanism.
