That's good news indeed, Carlos! Many thanks to you and your panel for taking the time to be our ears and for reporting the results. Very encouraging.

Excellent Mag! Can't wait to get some "candy smell" tape!

Is there any word on availability time frame? I am chomping at the bit!

This will be a bone to the tape world IF the price holds out they quoted.

Carlos,

Many thanks for your excellent review. I really liked your "round table" review approach. This is shaping up to be a very good product. I'm looking forward to its official release on the market.

Well done. I'm not at all surprised that the new Capture tape has a darker voice than MDS-36 and LPR-35. It is after all modeled after Ampex 456 and 456 has somewhat of a dark voice yet is a coveted sound. In the scheme of things we're fortunate that all of the RTR suppliers are making great tapes which is just the opposite of the cassette market which has been reduced almost nothing.

It would be nice to have a tape that is a bit warmer, my analogy. Could be interesting with acoustic instruments. I am looking forward to trying some.

It is great seeing another offering in the magnetic tape world. However, being similar to Ampex 456, From what I understand, it is not BIAS compatible with Pyral, or ATR's tape. So, bear with me folks, I am still learning about the Biasing, and such. So, I guess the question is can a deck be set up, or biased for 2 different tapes?

My Teac X1000R has 3 buttons, LHI, LHII, and "EE". My suspicion is that one adjustment will affect the others setting selection buttons. I hope I am wrong, but can these 3 'preset' button be independently set up for different tape types??

My Pioneer RT-1020L is similar, without the "EE" pre-set button - I believe it has a setting for "normal", "LHI", "LHII".
I do know it was set up for LPR35.

Look in the service manual it'll tell you. My Harman Kardan CD291 cassette deck has 3 sets of internal variable resistors to adjust the 3 record settings.

Capture Audio tape

Hi everyone. I thought it might be appropriate to jump in and give you an update.
Carlos had it right......we are awaiting samples of the new improved tape with slitting issues overcome. We will then proceed to testing of the new samples along with putting together the packaging (reels and boxes). THEN...we can launch the new tape. At the onset I am not sure sure yet if the 7" product will be ready to go. Pancakes will be the first to roll out. At this point we are taking the more economical route with the boxes and labeling. It will look good and I think most of you will approve. It's taken longer than I expected but we've got to get things right.
The product has thus far received great reviews and we're proud of it. Hang in there with us just a bit more. Thanks again for your interest and support...we appreciate that.

Best wishes,
Roger
