The only Pioneer unit I have is an H-22 8 track player.
It's the basic, play-only version of the coveted HR-99. It still has the same well-built mechanism and great sound quality though.
Mine is a fair bit used, but it keeps running as reliable as ever.

There's a Centrex version, with an all silver face and red LEDs instead of numbers backlit with incandescent bulbs, but even though it would fit like a glove with a nice set of vintage silver components, the inside is NOT the same as this Pioneer unit. It's the same plastic crap as a lot of cheaper units... as if someone yanked the 8 track player mechanism out of a Lloyd's all-in-one and put it in its own cabinet.

Pioneer RT-1020L

I sold the RT-1020L, but it was such a workhorse. I bought a few quadraphonic pre-recorded quadraphonic reels to play on it, and now that I no longer have it I am considering another Pioneer R2R to fill the spot.

The only piece of Pioneer gear I've owned* was an A-400 (not X) integrated amp. I had it for a good number of years. It was also my first step on the way into serious audiophile territory.

When I was still a squirt, my father bought his first serious piece of audio - the SX-939 receiver. I remember the beautiful greenish-blue backlight on the tuner and the endless buttons and switches.

*not counting the modern BDP-170 Blu ray...

Pioneer CT-F9191

Another Salvation Army pick-up many years ago. I bought it for $15, then brought it to an older gent, who was a retired technician and working out of his home, to give it a recondition. It didn't look like it had many hours on it.

One of the top Pioneer receivers of that era. Nice to see your SX-1250.

The appreciation has come from my father. I honor him and what he has taught me. A great role model and mentor. Thank you, Nando

I haven't used one, yet, but I belong to a Silver Pioneer FB group (under my wife's account - I won't get an account) and those receivers are well-regarded.

I had spied one on the shelf at Innovative Audio this past Saturday and it looked quite nice. Asking price was $395 Cdn with warranty.

Only paid $20 for this CT-737mkII, needed new belts and could do with an new idler but I don't really use it other than the occasional playback. Not a bad deck but I find it time consuming setting the bias.

I picked this system up awhile back. On a scale of 1 to 10, I wouldn't know how to rate it. It sounds OK for what I paid for it . Around $25. Probably one of their lower end models with the casing being black plastic and not very heavy.

Turbofiat124: The smaller Pioneer gear is great, too. That is less than the cost of a new vinyl record these days. I have had lots of entry-level Pioneer components that I sold or gave away to friends just to get them started with their own system.
