Crosley releases Vinyl jukebox... no really...

It's true. Coming soon...

"But, it's going to cost you. The jukebox has a suggested retail price of $11,995. And it also won't be easy getting one. Crosley plans to have 16 units ready to ship by April or May of this year, so step in line, rich vinyl lovers.

Because most people own 33 1⁄3 rpm records instead of 45s, Crosley has plans to make another jukebox to accommodate those larger records in the future."

Last month, saw it on their website as a listing and thought, WTF? I'd never get a Crosley as it's super cheap crap and makes even the Newmark turntable look good.

I wonder if this jukebox would be a $12,000 piece of cheap crap.

Come on, a jukebox was never a HiFi thing. Unless the audiophile concept extends also upon drunken truck drivers playing pool when not pinching the waitresses

Who knows, maybe in those long, lonely drives, esp. in the new trucks with the super-comfortable cabins, they now do develop an audiophile sense and demand something more. 8-track and a CB radio no longer cut it

They have already wrecked the name with the chinese wood crap they sell and so I would not have the likelihood to buy any of their stuff no matter how it was made.

True, but on the other hand, who hasn't, one way or another? If not wood crap it would have been BPC, even big names are guilty of this since the late 80s at least.

If I were to go this route, it would be with a new/re-manufactured and updated offering from Seeburg, Wurlitzer, AMI, or Rock-Ola, perhaps a custom unit like the ones made currently in the UK to the purchasers desires.

Then you will need to decide on the titles you want and source clean quiet quality 7 inch singles. The CD jukes made in the 90's were pretty nice too, certainly giving the user many more choices of titles since they use the same full length CD's available anywhere today for a dollar and up.

Crosley isn't my go-to for anything audio, especially at that price

This place in California offers the real deal JukeBoxes , for a lot less in some cases..:

Question: Can you really call it a jukebox if it is made for home use and doesn't have a coin mechanism? (Neither Crosley nor Sound Leisure seem to be building them for public installation, and all but one of the latter outfit's are actually CD players designed to look old.)

Yes, you can buy a refurbished Seeburg, or you can find a junky one and refurbish it yourself, but I bet if you go that route you are not going to get something that's particularly wonderful sounding or that's gentle on the discs - such considerations were never at the top of the designers' priority list; it was more about making a box that wouldn't go bust if you punched or kicked it.

Judging by the CES video it *is* made by the people suggested by Red_OX.

Definitely not crap.

Did not Crosely put their name on some high end TT recently and I am sure there is a video about the Jukebox maker out there.

Project makes for Crosley the C10, based loosely on the Project Debut. It comes with and Ortofon OM5E. Not as nice as the Debut Carbon, it fills the gap between lower cost/quality units they are known for. Rumor has it another higher end Crosley is coming soon or out already to give a clear upgrade path for their built in sales base. With a typical suit case style Crosley, there is no where to go but up, and they want to be there instead of loosing customers to other company's such as Project.
