What did you get for Christmas?

My wife got me a new TV. 32" Sharp LCD and a record shop run next week as well. Also had my family here on Last Thursday since my wife had to work today.

My kids got me new rear lower control arms for my 86 mustang GT. Some new drag radials and I should be able to hook at the track.

Still have more Christmas at my sister's and was JUST about to head to the car when she called to say, wait a bit as they are running late, her husband was up until 1am cooking... It'll be a beautiful drive as the sun is out at the moment it's 34*F and should be partly sunny and only hitting 38*F for the high so a nice day overall.

Anyway, received some money from good friends whom I refer to as my borrowed brothers, we've known each other since the early 70's and our parents, what's left that is were good friends for the same amount of time and my sisters are their "sisters" $160 in cash and a gift cart from Fred Meyer but don't know how much though is on it and some candies and an orange (I think a Clementine) in my stocking and received in the mail a pair of bright red men's garden clogs with a blue blue/red/yellow/black plaid lining for the insole from my oldest sister since I'd be in town for Christmas Eve/morning so there'd be something to open this morning and they are wonderful, will wear them to my sister's for the day. If I end up getting a second pair, and they fit as well I'll keep one pair up by the front door and one by the back door for runs to the garbage/recycling cans etc and the ones up front for quick runs outside or to the store etc as I tend to wear slippers during the winter months inside all the time for warmth and comfort when home or socks/bare feet during the warmer months.

It'll be fun to see what else I receive. :-)

I got a couple of days off work and some quality time with my family.

Mrs Kelv bought me JM Jarre's Oxygene Trilogy Vinyl/CD/Book box set (all 3 albums) Apparently it didn't cost as much via pre order as what it goes for now

Merry Christmas to all! Be safe.

Regards, Kelvin

I got some free HP test equipment from a friend, 54510A digital oscilloscope (I don't think I will use it a lot, I prefer analog oscilloscopes), 3312A function generator and 6234A dual power supply.

And I offered to me a bi-gas welding torch.

Records Records Records, Currently playing Elton John's Self titled Lp on MCA (early 70's rainbow re-issue MCA-2012. Dead quiet, best I've heard. I don't know where this guy came from, but he was loved and taken care of. Not ONE pop or crackle on either side and minimal surface noise at 50WPC.

In November, I was given a new tonearm for my Techie SL1210. I think mommy has one more hidden for after dinner though...

Oh, another fave LP she came up with (dead quiet like new, another Elton John I didn't have, Honkey Chateau...another early 70's MCA rainbow reissue, MCA 2017.

There is quite the pile here to listen too, looks like Santa was listening this year!

MY GF and I treated outself to a new kitchen machine for Christmas. Besides that, I got a Christmas sweater prominently figuring Rudolph, and a DVD of some renowed Dutch comedians. I give my GF two vinyl albums of Jesus Christ Superstar, one of the original Rock Opera and another of the movie soundtrack.

Unfortunately I had to give her the album on the 15th already. MY GF was going to meet her hero Ted Neeley (the lead character from the movie) on December 16th, and when I came home on the 15th, she told me she could have sworn she had the vinyl version soundtrack from her grandfather somewhere, but spent all day looking for it in vain. I had no other choice to give her her present that day. Next day Neeley signed the album for her!

Nice tapes Tasuke. Lucky- you finally got a 3014A deck?! Wow. That was fast work. I expect a full report on it soon when you give her a listen. No not kidding- eagerly await your thoughts on its sound quality.

I received some nice wall art from my wife's daughter. It's an amalgamation of someone's record collection and a Technics turntable. Pretty cool! I have it hanging already in the living room.

I also pre-ordered the new Rush - 2112 40th Anniversary boxed set. It arrived on Christmas Eve...good timing!

Oooh... I see next to the Rush box the top corner of the Beatles red album. I have the blue album, bought new in the early 80s if I recall from Tower Records.

Smile

It was a "underwear and slippers" Christmas for me.

And that was just fine with me.

I got a few other small gifts such as a large bag of teriyaki jerky (yum).

I had told Elly Monte Slim that I neither needed or wanted anything. I have everything I need. I purchased a Monster Nomad back in October.

http://www.mymonsteraudio.com/Nomad.html

I had seen one in Sam's Club when we were at the beach and I had a $25 gift card good at WalMart and Sam's Club (got it for taking a test drive in a new car). As a result, my net cash outlay was minimal.

So I had no need for gadgets this year and I told Elly just to get basic things. I have been blessed with good health this year and good business as well and I am thankful!

I am not sure about LP's, but one of the offspring has got me something that resembles an LP! We are doing family Christmas tomorrow as one of the offspring had to work Christmas day, two were in another country (Wales!) and t'other one was in another county....

But Mrs PC gave me the shortfall in my new TT find And booked us up to go to Poland in March

I am still smiling....

My parents gave me some money to buy what I wanted so I ordered some parts for my Citroen 2CV from the Netherlands. The weird thing was based on ordering Trabant parts from Germany I expected them to take 3 weeks to get here but they used UPS so they got here in 3 days. I can't get stuff from California in 3 days!

My wife got me a turntable. I had been looking at some of the thrift stores for one but can't seem to find any!

The turn table is made by Jensen. I don't want to gift horse in the mouth but it sounds nowhere near as good as the Montgomery Ward Airline I have out in my garage. I'm still going to keep it though since I don't have that many records.

I got into collecting Soviet made watches a few years ago. This one below keeps perfect time:

These two appear to be post Soviet made replicas around 1994 and I can tell by the winding mechanism and weight they are not as good as the originals.

I gave up on this hobby because the last three watches I ordered from Russia and or the Ukraine were DOA. I demanded a refund and shipped them back. I don't know if they were getting damaged in shipment or someone was trying to sell me a POS watch that didn't work to begin with.
