Studer A807 Spooling Motor Bearings

Hi all, I've had a problem develop on my Studer. In fast rewind there is a low drone and vibration coming from the left hand spooling motor (supply side). I've stripped out the motor and run it out of the machine and the noise and vibration are there. It's ok on overrun with no load but as soon as the power goes on the drone starts. Question. How difficult is it to change the bearings? Are they readily available?
Also, I noticed when I took the motor out of the chassis that there is a plastic toothed ring on the back of the motor. Mine has one tooth missing, would this effect performance?
Any advice and guidance would be gratefully received. M.

I don't know about the tooth. I got my A810 motors rebuilt by Athans corp. That included replacement of the 2 bearings. I am sure you can do it yourself. I don't know where you can get the bearings. Maybe you can ask George at Athans or maybe Tinman, Marc can help you

I'm rather sure it is tha SKF 608 2Z bearing they used.

I bought the energy efficient version from this seller as he is only 20 miles away from my home in the UK
I have used them in my Studer A810 and they fixed the same problem in my spooling motors

It takes 15 minutes to rebuild the spooling motors. Very straight forward. Just use high quality bearings or you will be doing it several times to find quiet one's.

You will need snap ring pliers.

As to a tooth missing on the tach wheel..... I'm not entirely sure. I never looked hard at mine. It's either an index spot to sense one full rotation, or a missing tooth.
