Need Otari MX-5050 NAB Adapters

I'm on the hunt for a pair of Otari MX-5050 BII NAB Adapters. What are my options as I'm not seeing very much on a Google search.

Are these unique to the MX-5050?

Pretty much, yes they are, I think. You`ll find them on E-bay. Sometimes outrageously high, but if you are patient you can get them for a decent price. Good Luck!

The short answer is no, they don't need to be Otari-specific. There are other company's that made/still make the screw down NAB adapters for non-locking
Trident reel tables.

The ones used by/for ATR/Ampex, Crown, Scully, and similar machines will work just the same. Jcorder has them, but are pricey, look here:

http://shop.j-corder.com/category.sc?categoryId=5

Used examples of the genuine Otari NAB's are always on Ebay, along with the others I listed off the top of my head,.. often as a pair for 50$ and under, or as much as 100$ or more each. You have to shop for the best prices, make sure they are returnable if they are purchased used, as they can be broken or worn out to a point where they wont lock on to the shaft.

Search for Darklab hubs, they offer the some ones they make for JCorder direct from them. Be wary of the ones made in Europe, the knock off versions, I have heard bad things about them from others, especially among the Studer/Revox users that bought them.

Those do NOT work on a earlier MX5050 which does not have the Trident locking spindle
!! Conversely - the MX5050's won't work on the 55N due to the spindle lock.

But they will work on an MX-5050 equipped with Teac reel tables as described in the link I included in my earlier post.
