The moody Blues had a run of excellent albums, starting with Days of Future Passed, and ending with Seventh Sojourn.

After Seventh Sojourn, I lost interest.

I still dig up their vinyl on occasion, brings up some good memories.

Looking forward to it even more now

I have that same string of albums from "Days..." to "Seventh Sojourn" from my radio days. In agreement that Seventh Sojourn was their last good studio concept album. I've got a couple of greatest hits compilations and the "Live at Red Rocks" CD, which is a pretty good greatest hits compilation in itself, but there was never anything after that run from '69 to '78 much worth listening to, IMO.

Usually once a year or so, we would uncork all of those albums in a row starting at midnight on the FM station where I worked to cover up whatever extracurricular activity we might be up to at the time.

The Moody Blues always had a great set of albums and they are even better in quad on open reel. They are still playing these days and I posted a picture of one of my client with them not too long ago. Here it is again.

@Dude111 - Spot on! I think that it is a really well laid out album In fact I enjoyed it so much that I borrowed these from my record collecting friend:
To Our Children's Children
A Question Of Balance
Days Of Future Past
On The Threshold Of A Dream

So far I am enjoying 'To Our Children's Children' & 'Days of Future Past!'

I have never really listened to the Moody Blues much before..... a entire new genre for me

Just got home from SCORE!!!! ing this in Non-Dolby Quad !! Looking thru the innertube, I noticed there are both versions - why?? If going thru the effort of 4ch. why do Dolby & then non-Dolby?? Anyway, I don't have a quad setup so I'll mix a 2ch half-track from it at (after) work tomorrow...CAN HARDLY WAIT !!!
Meanwhile...listening to whatever is coming out of tracks 1,3 on the 4300SX *bigthumbup *

Giving THANKS to Gustavo here

I find them to be overly dramatic most of the time, but I love the sound of the band on those early LPs. I should really just grab 'em and listen to them all a few times and make my own mix of favorites....isn't that what tapes are great for?

MY favorite band tied with the Beatles. Agreed the Core 7 releases were the 'best' but Octave was decent in it's own rite. Some of the 80's albums I liked a lot, Red Rocks is a favorite. 'December' is the last album I have, may have been their last release.

Seventh Soujurn was the last of the core 7 and a great release. I listen to it all the time. I'm looking at getting their latest remasters, in 24/192 IIRC.

They were just nominated December 5th for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame class of 2018. It's about time!

To our children's children

"Watching & waiting" always makes me think of somebody marooned on another planet. Evocative. Don't know what the lyrics are about. Suppose I should look them up after all this time.

I was a BIG Moody Blues listener. I think the 2nd ever "pre-record" cassette tape I bought was "Every Good Boy Deserves Favor", after that I was hooked, and would continue buying the tapes as soon as they released their next several albums. I played the tapes so much in my little Subaru 360's under dash Ampex cassette player I probably wore half the pigment off them. Now I have many of their albums on vinyl. I haven't heard "Seventh Sojourn" in a long time now, I'll half to give it a spin. One of my favorite songs of their's is "Ride My See Saw". It is pretty over the top but I like it.
