Rules And Conduct

All persons are welcome to join the site and become an active member of our community forum. As with most sites, there is an established code of conduct and set of rules that must be followed. You must agree to all terms and conditions on this page in order to be able to participate in the discussion forums.

2. All users must provide a valid e-mail address before membership will be activated. You will be sent an e-mail prompting you to confirm. Persons who provide uncomfirmed or dummy e-mail accounts will not have their membership activated. Multiple usernames are not permitted. One username per person please. Persons found to have or be reasonably suspected of having multiple usernames are subject to having any or all accounts closed and deleted.

3. All active members must maintain an active e-mail address for purposes of sending important notices and/or to establish validity of membership. TapeHeads.Net reserves the right to ping and/or send random test e-mails to your provided address. If at any time, TapeHeads.Net cannot confirm a valid and current e-mail address, your account may be subject to suspension or termination without further notice or cause. There are no domain name restrictions to join the site; e.g. "Yahoo" and "Hotmail" addresses are permitted so long as they are and remain active.

4. All new registered users to the site MUST choose a coherent and understandable username. Examples of coherent usernames are "ReelToReelGuy", "MX5050" (a well known component model number), and "JoeInGeorgia". New registrations with nonsense usernames will not be permitted to become active members of the forum. Examples of nonsense usernames would be "Byphjuz386", "HR487TXV", and "Mzupkispher878KR".

7. Once your membership becomes dormant/inactive, you will have limited access to the forums: Profiles cannot be customized, embedded picture attachments cannot be viewed, and message posts do not appear on the board in real time and are subject to Moderation. If you wish to have your account reinstated to active status, you must make a minimium of 5 (five) posts within 3 (three) days.

8. Spam and spam type messages are not permitted under any circumstance, by any person, for any reason. Any active member who posts a spam type message will be immediately banned permanently from the site. Any probationary member who submits a spam type message into the Moderator queue will likewise receive permanent banishment from the site.

6. Active memberships must be maintained as active. While it's understandable that offline lives and interests in other forums do take up some of your valuable time, inactive members are a drain on our resources. As such, a shelf life time limit of 90 days (three months) exists for all members. If 90 consecutive days elapse from the time of your last login and activity, your account is subject to being downgraded to inactive status. Please note that the 90 day clock begins from the date of your last activity and not your join date.

9. TapeHeads.Net welcomes and encourages discussions about anything audio related from a wide variety of viewpoints. Please be sure to post your message in the correct category (e.g. Reel To Reel, Cassette, Vinyl, etc.).

10. Spirited debates and differences of opinion are inevitable and even encouraged. But please refrain from insulting, degrading, or belittling another persons opinion(s). If you have a dissenting point of view, please back it up with facts and/or articulate commentary. Meaningless drivel, rants, and "potshots" will not be taken kindly to. Repeat offenders are subject to warning from the TapeHeads.Net staff and the offending post(s) locked and/or deleted. Flagrant and egregious offenders are subject to suspension and/or discharge from the site either temporarily or permanently. Remember. Tolerance is a two-way street!

12. Use of images is certainly encouraged and welcome. You may create your own photo album under your User Control Panel or display images within the forum as an opening topic or as a response to an existing one. So-called "picture threads" may also be posted inside

13. Please refrain from posting excessive images. If you want to post a picture of an item, one or two clear and focused, well lit pictures plus a closeup of any interesting features will do. We do not need to see it from six different angles, the top, the bottom, the battery compartment of the remote control, the back page of the instruction manual, the envelope that the instruction manual came in, ad nauseum, etc. Please post pictures! But please! Use some discretion, moderation, and common sense. Repeat violators are subject to warning and eventual suspension and dismissal from the site.

14. Profane (such as pornographic or otherwise "R" rated graphic images) may not be posted in the forums by any person for any reason. Offending posts will be immediately removed and the offending poster will be suspended from the site. This is an Audio based site. If you want to show pictures of yourself in your birthday suit, please go to an appropriate site that fosters that behavior.

15. Non Audio subjects and general "Off topic" discussions are permitted in the designated forums. Here, most subjects-including "hot topics" such as politics and other contentious discussions are allowed as are general 'non audio' discussions such as cars and airplanes. However, they must must remain courteous and well articulated. Name calling, "cheap shots", and insults will not be permitted. Many people are deeply passionate about certain topics. Some "heated discussion" will be allowed. If you cannot handle some lively debate from a possibly opposing view from yours, then it is recommended that you do not partake in those discussions. Of course any discussion that erupts into a full blown "flamewar" is subject to closure. Many sites have a blanket moratorium in place prohibiting these types of discussions from taking place at all. TapeHeads allows it as long as all involved remain civil and adult. Please do not abuse it.

17. Buying, selling, and trading of audio related merchandise is permitted on TapeHeads.Net. Wanted-To-Buy postings are also allowed. Classified ads may be posted at no charge. However, all transactions are done solely at the particpants sole and own risk. This service is provided for convenience. But TapeHeads.Net can not and will not stand for the integrity or authenticity of any item or seller/buyer. All items wanted to buy/sell MUST be audio related items only. Non audio related wares including-but not limited to-toys, vehicles, airline tickets, etc. may not be posted. Such listings will be removed and the offending posters subject to warning and/or suspension from the site. Age restricted items including but not limited to pornography or drug and alcohol paraphernelia may likewise not be posted. Offending listings will be removed and the violator will be dismissed from the site.

19. TapeHeads.Net is a privately funded, owned, and operated enthusiasts Web site. Information gathered from members is purely to establish valid contact information only. TapeHeads does not share or disclose any information regarding its members including IP addresses, contact information, and the like to any third parties for marketing or other reasons. All privately gathered information remains in strict confidence.

16. TapeHeads.Net prides itself on its laid back, casual, and open atmosphere. However, posting so-called "trolling", "flamebait", or any other inflammatory type of post that runs contrary to the spirit of the site may result in the offending poster being suspended or banned from the site. This may be done at the sole discretion of the TapeHeads.Net Admin and Moderator staff. If you are not sure, please contact us first.

18. The listing of items or services for sale is restricted to TapeHeads.Net members in good standing only who meet the following criteria: A) You MUST have been active member for a minimum of 90 (ninety) consecutive days and B) your post count in the forums must total 50 (fifty) or higher. This is to help build a sense of trust and community amongst our buyers and sellers. No exceptions to this policy will be granted to any person for any reason. Listings made in violation of these conditions are subject to removal. Repeat offenders including attempts to circumvent this policy are subject to suspension or banishment with no further explanation.
