There's one on the local CL, wondering if it's worth me taking a look at. The price seems fair if it's as good as the Pioneers I have. There's not too much info other than on Vintage Technics. It has...not terribly great specs compared to the ones its listed against, but then again it retailed for $165 in 1981-83, which sounds like an awful lot to me. However, that's pretty cheap compared to most of the other decks on that page.
I'm just getting restless and need a deck for my apartment that I can jam with, NOW. *fit* Forgive my instant gratification tendency!

P.S., it would be intended pretty much for playing only, if that makes a difference in anyone's recommendation.

It's an entry level bare bones deck... and perhaps a good playback deck for secondary system. Around my area decks like this go for $10 or so.

It depend upon what you expect out of it and how much you can get it for. I agree it would make an ok playback deck in a secondary or garage system, but I doubt I'd be happy with it in my primary system.

Ah, well, for the record, its $20...maybe I'll pass.
My last two decks were $5, including the non-working Pioneer in my other thread and my CT-W770. I'm pretty sure I got a good deal on both of them (well, I would have gotten an excellent deal if the CT-W502R were working!)

I would go $5 or maybe even $10 if it was in great condition, but any more than that I'd pass.

Hmm, it has the original box and manuals, and apparently somebody (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?p=252593&highlight=RS-M205#post252593) thinks it's not bad. He assured me it's in absolutely excellent condition and has received little use. Sure they all say that, but the pictures make it look pretty darn good.
The guy will take $15, so now I'm kinda thinking about it again. Goodwill and Sally Ann near me have been totally dry lately. The seller and I won't be able to meet up until at least Sunday, anyway, so I've got some time to sit on it.
There's also a Pioneer CT-W502R on CL, for $25. This one would be in working condition, and I could use the one I have for parts if something goes wrong or I could rebelt that one and have two!
By the way, I totally didn't realize that there was a separate appraisals forum here. Des (or any other mods) feel free to move me over there!

They were decent but not stellar decks. I would go see it, and take a serious look. The soft touch buttons were a step up from piano-key style decks and a move into the solenoid operated era.
