It's nice to find things that you forgot you had.
I had completely forgotten that I had these till I moved a few boxes in the closet to get something. This box of Quantegy 499 10" X 2400' pancakes. Looks like there are seven or eight of them in there. Right on. Now I remember.
Next were these Maxell XLI 35-180B's. I have two boxes of these. Thing is, for some reason, I was under the impression that each box contained ten tapes. I was wrong. Imagine my surprise when I opened one up and to my surprise they contained fourteen. So I now have eight more of these than I previously counted.
Finding something that you already have hardly counts as a score. Nevertheless it was cool to see these "extras". Made my day.
You even come across something you forgot you had?

Came across a garage full today. It was so bad it all went to the city dump... *grin* But then we've been getting rid of a ton of stuff lately.

I would say that *still* counts as a score! even if you scored from yourself! If any of those XLI's need a new home, let me know...*check*

Nice to find forgotten items.
When I bought my X-10R it came with a couple of those XL-1's.
Were metal reels standard with those?

Yep. I hear ya. I've also gotten rid of a lot of stuff that I no longer wanted or needed. Not so much because it was "junk", but because the time and cost of shipping/selling/donating them would've exceeded what I could've gotten for them.

Will do, but I'm not planning on getting rid of those tapes anytime soon. So don't hold your breath. Of all the tapes I have, those are my "prized ones". I've already released a substantial amount of my original stash and what remains is what I'm keeping for my own eventual use.

Yes. Those tapes do come with the classic "Double M" (http://www.tapeheads.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=396&d=1214678712) metal reels.

Finding a dollar bill or more in your freshly dried pants or a chocolate bar you left in the butter compartment three weeks ago may be doofus but it's still a "score" of sorts.
