I have one of those amps and I can vouch for it. It is a very nice amp.
Here is a pick of my Sony Stack of gear..

:-)<- that's a very attractive cassette deck, too!! these components' physical depth are a little shallow for my taste, but they're still very nice!! i happen to have an ES ad with this amp in it...

Howzit Lady Ayeka,
You have a soft spot for fine twin decks - that is indeed an impressive looking Sony. I always quite liked the Akai GX-W45.
This one (above)I don't recall having seen before. I estimate this lot to be from about 1986/7.
The TA-F77ES might be their biggest/best effort, not sure. A lot of good stuff never leaves Japan.
I have a couple of brochures from the 88/89 period for Sony and will try to pin point this.
Thanks for these great pics.

I actually have three Sony Cassette decks from that period. I only have the meter pictures below online. I will try to get a picture of all three of them together when I get the chance. All three have the simulated wood end panels.

I hate you Web! I was bidding on one of those amps, it started going north of $500 and I backed out, I hope those nice little speakers next to the stack of fine ES's can handle the output *eyepop* Nothin' like some big VU's at night...*devil* *hearts*

Those little Wharfdale speakers are for testing purposes, they don't ever get cranked on with any of the big power amps I have. :)
I bought The Sony amp on ebay, but it was few years ago and it was a low low BIN so I snapped it up almost as soon as it was listed. At todays prices I would probably pass on getting one.
I was looking for a single drawer Sony ES Cd Player but they always go for way more than I am willing to part with. I pretty much gave up on getting one of those.

LA can attest to my amp addiction, just before I started here on TH. I was bidding on just about everything in that range as your ES, the Denon, Onkyo, Technics, BGW, SAE. They all got into the $600 range, with the Pioneer M91's over $800!! I must have gotten really lucky with my Yamaha MX-800U for $320+, since the bruiser 1000U had just sold just before for twice what I paid, twice the amp, I don't think so. I don't like the metering on the Yamaha though, the Darth Vader look makes up for it, just sitting there.

Hello,
I know this thread is dead for quite a long time, but would you by any chance have in your archives the service manual of the 1983 Sony TA-F777ES ?
Regards.
