I went into one of the Cash Crusuaders (a chain of thrift/pawn stores) here yesterday and saw a Connoisseur turntable with an OK looking Empire cartridge. I tested it on a nackered Beach Boys album they had there and it sounded unexpectedly good. A neat looking gimbal type tonearm fitted and seemignly an idler design. I told him I want to quickly check out this thing on the internet at home. It turns out to be quite a find and so I trek back - only to find it just been sold to someone else. Get this - to a "young lady"!! What is this digital world coming to?
(for R299=$US39.20).
Don't learn from me. Carpe diem.
Cheers - Marc

Dunno how many times I've had that exact same scenario happen. I've developed an "oh well, wasn't meant to be" attitude, that maybe the cosmic plan has something better in store since I missed that opportunity.
