Well, looks like my experiment worked pretty good. First.. "Frankenstein"... it's a sub that originally was powered. Ripped the amp out and put in a crossover to make sure all power goes to the freq range it should...

Now onto "the stack". Put the D1S back up. It is sounding very sweet without the GR-777 EQ in the loop (must be age on the EQ... it did have some noticeable rolloffs on the extreme ends of the spectrum). That drives my Infinity's and Klipsch's for the mains (in parallel, like a decent amp should drive speakers).

For "Frankenstein", that's where my NAD 2400PE came in handy. Got it bridged and fed direct from the D1S's subwoofer output. The 2400PE is rated to deliver 200 in bridge mode, but with a ridiculous amount of headroom (800 for brief periods). o-o:-)

The "Moog" with Rush's Analog Kid never sounded so good... Maybe tomorrow I can "test" it. Already I have comments from "the better half" like "that's hideous!!" and "stop!! yucky!!" *fit*

Well as long as you aren't using a lightning rod to power them, we'll forgive you.

Your experiment reminds me of a guy I once knew.

He was the only person I ever saw who could take three Volkswagen Beetles apart, put them back together and have FOUR Volkswagens.

We used to call his collection FrankenWagens.

Does a UPS count? That way if "she" ever hits my breaker while I'm jamming she still has to hear it for another 5 minutes *fit*

(edited to add - Hmmmmm.. or maaaybe... she'll think she never finds the breaker and gives up?)

buah ha ha*devil*

hey, all you gotta do is run the 777 in to the D1S' TAPE 2/MONITOR loop and you can insert and remove it from any audio source with a touch of the TAPE 2/MONITOR button. that is exactly how i have been running my EQ. totally effective...

That's how I had it. At least with the one I have, it's internal to the EQ - it seems to have an issue with overall frequency response. Keeping it out completely and relying on the built in bass/mid/treble does it for me.

10-4. perhaps i won't be bothered by such a thing since i originally wanted, and will predominantly use my 777 lin the same way as the FISHER and AKAI EQs that came before it; as a very pretty and cool spectrum display. generally, the only time i even use an EQ is for correcting bad sounding VHS recordings. still, when i get the 777, i'll definitely be playing around with it and writing a review...

Your poor wife. Subjected to one of the greatest drummers of all time. Crank it up! *devil*

Sounds like you need a second system built around the Marantz 2230, make that one with her input, keep the peace bro, trust me...*devil*. It's how I got 5 systems, they each have their +'s and -'s!
