I'm not at all good with audio mixing/editing/mastering, whatever they call it... I was hoping to have this audio file of me performing Ravel (NOT Debussy, as the ID tag says) sound a little better... the quality is really low, in fact it's quite terrible to listen to. I don't know if it's at all fixable, but if any of you guys wanna give it a shot, I'd be really happy :)

I can't do anything with it now because I am at college, but I would be happy to take a crack at it when I get home.
What was it recorded with?
Is there a higher resolution version?

The recording was made by somebody else, so I have no idea. It was recorded last year, as I remember there was a microphone on a stand in the room, quite distant to the piano. Unfortunately I only have that lossy mp3 version. There's nothing to do about the resolution as such, but I was hoping to somehow make it less "gooey", bring forth the sound of the piano and lower the crowd noise and hiss and stuff.

I just scanned through it (on my laptop, which is ancient), and I dunno if there is all that much that can be done...it's just a faraway mic. But I'll take a crack at it. *Hi5*

Yeah I thought so...
Anyway thanks! *Hi5* I'm not asking for a miracle, but even the slightest improvement would be much appreciated... it's the only recording of me as far as I know.

You're good. If I was not half a world away I'd record yaand do a proper analog job of it.

lol thanks. The climax is pretty messed up though. But I made it through, despite my serious stage fright issues. *headache*

My college teachers used to tell us about recording (whether audio or video):
Cr@p in, cr@p out.
Meaning if its bad to begin with, there is little hope in it improving after. But computers can do amazing things these days, so David would know more on that.

I haven't listened to it, but I wonder what a BBE Sonic Maximizer would/could do to it?

I found the BBE to be good at bringing out the transients on less than stellar live recordings, especially "muddy" ones.
It does not work miracles, but can make a poor recording a little more legible to listen to

Years ago my friend had a BBE Sonic Maximizer till one of the BBE IC's inside died. I know nothing is a magic fix or a miracle cure but some can do small wonders & make small improvments to make things a little more tolarable to lisiten to.
I know sometimes even small and seemingly miniscuele improvements are a HUGE deal & greatly sought after. I think this is one of those times.
I hope ksvane can find some improvment.

Got to work on it today. Will need a few more to iron it out. It will sound better than the original (eq and levels).

I'll take my own swing at it myself later in the day.
