As some may know I have a local source for once played RMGI sm900, sm911 and ATR tape on 10" reels. I just picked up my next stash of of RMGI SM900 tape, on plastic reels and much to my surprise one was not on a plastic reel.
What I found was a metal reel anodized BLUE, very cool!

So how about some pictures? And a review of the ATR tape?

Didn't think it photo worthy, but I will snap a few next week when I retreive my dig cam from school.
I have not done a shootout on the tape yet as my otari is in the shop for calibration.
But I can say this as a precursor.... When picking up the goods yesterday from my "source" he did say that both are NICE tape but he felt the ATR to be more delicate then the sm900.
Even though the ATR has a +10 rating (vs. the sm900 @ +9) it does not like to be pushed to the limit and recorded that hot, gets grainy.
On the other hand he said that you could really push the sm900 to the limits and it would take all you could throw at it.
Now he is running a Studer A80 so the quality of his deck is not in question.

OK...
Got a dig from work. Here are a few shots of the stash I've been building of new tape. 19 plus two I bought new... 21 in total.
