this, i understand, is a legendary classic. widely considered to be SONY's best stereo receiver of all time, it has been rumored that only around 2000 copies of this model were ever made. also, it is known that this receiver was made exclusively for the U.S. market...

It's a beautiful receiver and one that I have owned. It sounds every bit as good as it looks.

Well, ya can't keep them all...at least I can't, even if I wanted to. I sold it to fund a different piece of gear.

personally, i would have never even dreamed of doing that, as the 10ES is one of my all-time favorites. to each their own...o-o:-)

I got the B-2 back as part of a trade with a friend of mine but the sale of the Sony was a part of that deal. While the Sony is nice, to my ears it cannot compare to the B-2. Apples and oranges type thing.

Casa Broonesbane is the House of Everchanging Equipment.... I've witnessed U-Hauls of stuff come and go from that place, enough to make most of us look like Schwarzeneggers .... :D

I have a STR-GX10ES and it is a very nice receiver. It sold for $1,300 new. I also had a STR-GX9ES, which is virtually identical to the 10 but had only 100 wpc and sold for "only" $1,000.

my PIONEER VSX-D1S originally had $1350.00 list when it was available from 1990/93. in the magazines of the time, some eastern-based outlets claimed to have it available for $700/800 give $30/$50 or so. today, it has a blue book of $350.00. a truly fantastic receiver that generally doesn't get the respect it deserves...
