me and this late-eighties mid range SONY offering happen to go way back. my ex-father's drunken bastard of a brother owned one as part of an entire SONY system (including a SONY cabinet) he bought new. i remember seeing it off and on the many, many times we all went over there for family get-togethers,ETC. like every other piece of gear i happened across growing up, i never seemed to think here or there of it. then, around the turn of the mellenium, when my obsession with home electronics started to bud and blossom, i became VERY interested in it and the system, even asking that drunkard a few times to think of me if he ever decided to get rid of it. no, i never got it, and likely never will, as there are FAR better receivers out there (my VSX-D1S for starters) and the first couple of times that i finally had enough interest to inspect and play with it (and obsessively twiddle around with the remote, habit of mine) were the two very last argument-ridden visits me and my mother made over there before we estranged ourselves from my ex-father and his tribe forever...
