Many of you may very well know what this is, but just the same, i thought i'd share my recent "score".

While at a locale monthly record swap meet, i happened to be looking through a gents classical box. A few minutes in, he brought this out, and asked me if i had ever seen one, or knew what it was. (Sure, i said to myself; there was one of ebay recently that went for $500, and another on Audiogon at the time that was listed at $350. Amoeba records in Hollywood has one also, at $400), and have seen them sell as low as $250 in the recent past (condition of that one unknown).

I responded that i knew what it was, and asked how/why he was asking me? he said that he really had no idea what it was, and figured since i was perusing the classical section that i might inform him.

Within minutes he was offering to sell it to me...for "$35". i told him that i had seen others in better condition (well actually, this one was/is in SUPER condition. each LP herein is in MINT condition!), and that i could give the remaining $15 i had in my wallet, if that would do?

He gladly accepted!

All LP's in the set are Shaded Dogs, and again, all are in super duper condition. Each inner "sleeve' is essentially the same one used for the individual record release of the time, and it's all spiral bound together.

All in all, i got a SUPER deal, and figure i saved myself anywhere from $235 to $485 by getting it for a whopping 15 bucks!

Also....a "Pop" version, "LSC-9301", was originally issued at the same time, and included Esquivel, Ames Brothers, Cugat, others in the 10 record set:
Esquivel Other Worlds; Crosby-Clooney Fancy Meeting You Here; Cugat The King Plays Some Aces; Ames Brothers Destination Moon; Schory Bang, and others.

And btw....apologies for the lens barrel distortion in a few of the shots. i was in a hurry, and also trying to avoid lighting glare in some angles. also, the light flare line across the Shaded Dog label is indeed a 'flare'. the label is actually perfect, and does not have that line through it.

these were in VERY limited production at the time (around 1960) and were really designed to be offered up with new 'console' stereo units of the day.

the fact that they are rather 'bulky' has possibly helped keep a few of them around. even so, they don't exactly hang on trees.

i've frequented record stores prolly as much as most anyone over the past 40 years, and i think i've only actually seen about a half dozen of these in person over that span.

they do appear on ebay on occasion, but again, they'll prolly not be 'cheap'!

A great great score bruckner9. I use to search ebay for this one a few years back but never found one in decent shape or in my price range. Finding one complete is fine enough but to find one with the records/labels in NM to mint condition is quite the accomplishment. I won't even comment on the price you paid!!

for the heck of it, here's a pic of the "Pop" version of this album set (again, "LSC-9301"). i don't own one of these, but someday.....
