Hi Everyone

I recently got hold of a WM-25 to listen to recordings from vinyl (my preferred source) on the go. I fitted a new belt and it sounds pretty good. One question, the motor and pulley mechanism seems noisey to me. With the belt off, running the motor there is some slight low level noise but with the belt on and the pulley spinning the noise is quite loud. I have tried oiling the motor and pulley with a little light oil don't know if this would help or make things worse (only paid £5 for the unit so not so precious in any case.)

any suggestions or do these mechanisms always sound noisey, by the way the noise is not a clicking but resembles what you might expect from a turntable with a bearing not running smooth.

Thanks

Phil

if you hear motor noise through the headphones, the capacitors are giving in so they might need replacement. As for the sound of th motor coming from the unit - older units are pretty noisy yes because the motors were typical rotor-stator design with brushes. But pics are always helpful.

Thanks, I would say the noise isn't coming through the headphones to any great extent, but the unit is very noisy, sound is good and I am using it on the train so whats a bit more background noise!! Thanks for taking the time, Phil
