Here's a site I came across from a company in Asia; Singapore I think. Apparently, they still make metal cassettes.

You may be right. I'm hoping I can plead & beg for them to sell them to me by the box.

Howzit Gents,
Either this plant is Taiyo Yuden (That's) Singapore or they have bought That's licensing and the technology to manufacture Prestxide particles and versions of That's products. Prestxide is a type of black magnetite (a goethite grown in distilled water charged/ionised with hydrogen). Unlike Hitachi/Maxell's approach the pigment was applied by immersion roller coating and not epitaxy. Versions of the particle/needle were used for both high and normal positions. Clearly TY were trying to replicate Maxell's success with subsurface ionising as well as use precipitates other than cobalt. Their success was limited to an extent (though not a complete flop).
Two of this line look like clones of That's tapes.
Hope your enquiry pans out!!
