The Shure M95 of my Marantz 6200. This is the aftermarket Crapstiehl needle (but it seems to be sounding better the more it gets used) It took me a couple of hours to get the adjustments spot on for this needle to sound decent. I wish Shure still made the N95.*fit*

Excellent work ya'll! Maybe we can get Matt involved in vinyl if we keep this up *devil*, that cantilever on Mr. Lin's make me nervous just looking at it, Just last week I dropped the needle to the record literally, I always cue by hand without the lever, sometimes it (rarely) is better if I didn't.

I once did the same thing with my Grado Platinum. I'll never forgive myself for being so careless, but because of that mistake I'm now extremely careful and focused 100% of the time when using my turntables.

Installing the Glider was not fun.

I'm selling the Madrigal on Audiogon. Can't afford to keep both. It is an awesome cartridge, believe me, I just feel more comfortable with a new cartridge.

If I could spare the money right now I'd definitely buy your duck cartridge, but I just have too many expensive little projects going on at once.

If it doesn't sell, I'll send it to you to so you can give it a listen. It is a special cartridge.

I was lucky, picked this up with a Townshend Rock Elite MkI turntable. The cartridge was mounted on a Rega RB300 that came with the table. The money I paid was a Joke. The Koetsu is probably worth 10 times the price I paid for the complete rig and the TT is far from Junk as well.

So what, if anything, is different about this one since it was re-tipped by Garrot Brothers?

Apparantly the Garrot re tipping service made the cartridges sound even better than the new standard cartridge. These guys were totally eccentric twin brothers that were based I think in Melbourne. The quality of their work was second to none. They were famed for their quirks concering alcahol and women consumption (not nessasarily in that order either). I don't know the circumstances but they committed double suicide some years ago. Given the pedigree this cartridge is fairly special and of course unreplacable. (well to me anyhow). The cartridge is also an early vintage unit which is said to be superior to the current produced models.

Wow, double suicide, I did not know that. Almost seems like someone should make a movie about it.

This is my recently installed Ortofon cartridge, the MC Windfeld.

Too early to say how it will stand up against it's predecessor - all indications thus far are very positive and after another thirty hours or so should be up to optimum performance.

Keep us posted on the Paul Winfeld.

Per Windfeld was Ortofon's top designer and the company named the cartridge to honour him, as done previously with the Rohmann several years before in recognition of another former employee.

Sorry, I thought it was Paul, my mistake. I read an article about the man, which was very interesting. It's supposed to be a very nice cart., let us know your opinions after listening for a while.

I'll do just that, submit some impressions and so on.

I have posted a link from another Windfeld user in this forum and it's really detailed, incredibly so, not even the journals give as much depth or length to a cartridge review like this one does.
