Hi Norm,
I have been (and still am) in a similar position. A little while back I started this thread (http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=401) here on a similar topic, so maybe some of your questions will be answered there. Otherwise, follow the advice given in that thread and ask away, I'm sure everyone will be happy to help out. No one here seems to know of a general primer course, unless they do and have forgotten to tell us.

Actually, after looking through the thread again I am reminded of this page (http://cws8.crutchfield.com/S-mXOAERyPsiE/Learn/learningcenter/home/cassette_faq.html)which covers some of the basics.

That's the approach I've taken here and I've learned a lot already. Just don't ever hesitate to ask because the odds are that someone here knows the answers.
