Hello

The AD-F330-E is my last cassette deck.

I don't have the manual.
I don't understand what is the point of the "timer" button.
"play/repeat" "off" "record" it says.

This cassette deck works good and the sound is very nice to me *Hi5*

It have the following features : type I, II, IV; and Dolby B & C, and bias adjustement.

The TIMER button is used with an external timer in the following manner. If you set the TIMER switch to RECORD, and plug the deck into your timer and set the timer for (e.g.) 7:00PM, then at 7:00 PM the timer turns on power to the deck, the deck kicks itself into RECORD mode and starts recording for as long as the tape in the well has time left, so if it's a C-90 then you've got 45 minutes max of recording time available if the tape is rewound to start. You have to preset the REC levels and such, but it's essentially hands free away-from-home recording long before the days of programmable VCRs.

Alternatively, you could set the TIMER switch to PLAY, and set your timer to 6:50 AM and wake up to some awesome mix tape or grunge rock and really piss off the significant other....

You just need any controllable timer that has a switched outlet that will turn on the deck and sources. Nothing like blasting some Zeppelin at 0200 and they telling your neighbors "Hey, I wasn't even home, how could it be me?!?"....
