*headache*
Got a Dual 505 turntable, only getting sound via one channel occasionly i can make the other one work slightly if i jiggle the wires around a bit.

Is it just a case of opening the case, threading a phono cable to a contact somewhere presumably inside and were good to go?

I just replaced the cables on my Dual CS-714Q. They were soldered into the tonearm base at mounting points that needed tiny tiny fingers to manipulate, so it would be easy for me to see them becoming work or frayed there. Not for the faint of heart, but you need to open it and solder in some new ones or clip the existing ones shorter and re-solder them.

Send a PM to member Emo-Fan as I think he just did this on his Dual 505.

I have the 604, but my problem was hum; the Duals don't have ground straps. I cleaned the male ends of the cables with a gallon of Deoxit (the white rag was a greenish black afterwards) and used Auvio cables (gold-plated and heavily shielded) from Radio Shack to extend the built-in ones to my power amp. It hums no more.

Either your cables are worn (in which case they need replacing) or dirty, in which case they need cleaning. If that doesn't do it, try checking the contacts on the cartridge carrier and/or the cartridge itself.

Alternatively, you may just have a large chunk of wax in one ear...
