There's a discount "dollar" store 2 doors from my place...they have blank tapes on occasion. Shown below - I picked up 10 Maxell XLII-S 100s (they did have some 90's months ago) for 12.99. So picked up about 8 packs of 10.

They also have Maxell UR-90s for 6.99 for a 10-pack and 5.99 for a 10 pack of UR-60s. So I picked up a few of these, but not too many as I don't want to be too greedy...

Last year I actually picked up a pile of TDK MA-X Metal 90s at 12.99 a ten-pack at this store.

So I guess what I'm saying is that you can still on occasion find good deals on tapes in smaller local stores...you just have to keep your eyes open and look regularly...but I admit the "deals" on the better tapes are getting rarer...

The Maxell XLII-S's is a superb bargain. The TDK MA-X's were an OUTSTANDING bargain. Yes, it pays to stop in the out-of-the-way hole in the wall joints every so often.

Reason enough to not feel bad about being too greedy. I'd rather buy them than risk the store pitching 'em if they don't move.

My best deal like that was finding a 10-pack of TDK D 120s for...

...wait for it...

...$3.99!

I hope to be so lucky again in the near future.
