I love the 6 disc magazine feature and both of mine are now malfunctioning.
I plan to repair them at some point if possible but want to buy a replacement now, today if possible.
Which one of the Pioneer PD-Mxxx series do you rank as the best that Pioneer produced?
What about the newer ones? How do they compare to the classics?
Any other ideas? I want to keep my 6 disc feature.
Thanks!

Hi realjimjim,
The Pioneer PD-M426 seem to be a good cartridge-style player. I have a Pioneer cartridge player(PD-DM802) which accepts two 6-pack cartidges. The cartidges can be used for your car's cartridge CD changer for even more flexibility.

I'm a sucker for the PD-M700. Yes it is old and doesn't oversample much, but the contruction is super. Older pickups had lower inherent noise than models like the PD-M426.

Holy smokes, you are going back to 1988! I would more than likely use one of the Elite series, then.

Nando,
That is the same series. I have this bias that most CD players share the same flawed sound, so it doesn't much matter what techno-gadget circuit it has, it still is a compromise. That makes it possible to listen to older vintage CD players and discover their values. A good example is the Nakamichi OMS-7. Has any player under $1k matched the bass of this vintage CD deck?
This series Pioneer has a rigid chassis and nice caps in the dual DAC section. IIRC it also reclocks the data, although the benefits of that trick were unknown at the time these were built.
