I checked a TC-K75 that my brother and I bought 30 years ago. It has been left unused for a number of years, but can still play tapes properly! The pressure rollers are in decent shape, and the ferrite & ferrite R/P heads still look like new. I didn't open up the deck but I think even the capstan belt is also good.
The only problems are loud screeching noises during FF/Rew and some crackling when the headphones volume knob is turned.
Not bad for a 30 year old Sony!
