A huge thank you to NAD613, he knows how excited I am about a cassette that is actually TWO of my favorite tapes (TDK SM Pro and SA-X) in one. They're 30 minute tapes, which I understand is not useful to most of you, but I'll happily use any length, I'd even use one of those 5 minute tapes if I had one - believe me I'd find a way.

So in a few minutes I'll set everything up and try one out for the first time. Impressions will be forthcoming. The Nak's heads have just been cleaned and demagged, so it's ready to go.

Picture below, because you know you want to see them:

stuwee, it's only TDK SA-X tapes. I didn't think you'd get involved until they were TDK SA-XXX tapes...... *devil*

Scorp... don't you think a PM would have been more appropriate?:-? Sounds like a personal problem to me. :D

Somewhat serious reply to this thread*hypnot*. Must be I'm spoiled with my 3600' 10 1/2" reels lasting an hour and half each side... and now with the auto reverse on the Teac 3 hours total before I have to attend to the deck. I have trouble handling even the 60's on cassettes. But that's my personal problem *Spin* *Spin* *Spin*.

Well, they (it) won't reach from there to here, so .... besides, I think stuwee has that market covered.

That's one nice thing about my Sony dual-cassette deck. It has relay-play & auto reverse, so two 90 minute tapes will give me 3 hours of uninterupted music.

Let us know Mr Lin - the length - you'll find a way. Perosnal "Demo" tapes are great and at least you know they are at least 18 micron thick.

Cheers - Marc

I had a plan for these before they got here. Tonight I recorded The Cure's 2004 "Taking Off" from a CD single, which features two good b-sides. At a little over 12 minutes altogether it's perfect for one side of these. I may use another single/EP for the other side, and eventually (once I'm motivated to move everything around) I'd like to record some 7" records and their b-sides onto these tapes.

BTW I'm listening to the tape now and, not surprisingly, it sounds great. I can't wait to hear this through speakers.

So I've now used one of these with great success. I chose a Cure single CD (as I said above) which features two really good b-sides I'd never listened to much before (how often do you play CD singles?), and I put several other b-sides from an earlier single that was released in two versions, with different b-sides. Sound quality is about as good as I think it's going to get with my setup, it sounds very, very nice.

When it was done I actually listened to it three times in a row! That's how you know you're successful. For the time being I'm handing this one off to my lady to listen to in her car. It'll be great for the short ride to work.

I told you all I'd put these to good use, and I still have 19 left...

Mr. Lin, have you contacted A to Z Audio to buy out their remaining stock of TDK SM-X 20 & 30?

That's a negative.
