I have it on good information that Kent was washed away in the recent Tennessee floods and is now residing somewhere in Madagascar.

As the second closest, I will be glad to claim his booty!

Well it looks like we will not be hearing an acceptance speech from Mr Kent T, who has now forfeited his prize. I clearly stated in the announcement at the opening of this discussion that he's got 24 hours to send me a PM to claim it. He has not done so. As of this message, his profile shows that his last activity online was yesterday around 8AM-some eleven hours after I announced that he had won. He entered the contest. So he had to have been curious to see if he won. He had ample opportunity to claim it. He chose not to.

Look. This isn't very difficult. I already assembled the contest and the items. Hell I was even willing to ship it. Do I have to contact the winner too? Give me a freaking break here. If someone's too lazy to claim a FREE item, I'm not going to chase them down and beg them to make arrangements to get it.

Sorry Charlie. This contest was all about rewarding loyalty to the site. So ya snooze. Ya lose.

I'll buy what I can at the first of the month if that doesn't work out...my CT-3000 would be happy to serenade me with it on my birthday next month.

Well, it always happens when they draw ticket stubs at karaoke. I win something eventually in those.

C'mon you guys! Pay a tension!

I still need to mail your splicing block out. I probably won't get to that till around Tuesday. I'm pretty booked till then. just FYI. Hope that's not *too* big of a deal. Maybe I'll slip you a little something extra as a consolation prize. *wink*

A mate to my lone TEAC NAB adapter is probably even cooler than finishing my 2340. At least my 3300 would be more useful.

I'm pretty sure I have a spare adaptor laying around that I can kick down.

Now as for the contest, hmmm....since Kent T never responded, I still set out to do a giveway. So what to do. Should I do a runoff contest or should I just pick the second place contestant, let him pick something, and call it a day?

hmmmm.....*scratchchin*

Why is it that something that should be so simple and so fun end up turning into such a headache? I looked back and realized that while I didn't put a time limit to claim the prize in the contest rules, I posted the results with said clause immediately after the contest ended. So it stands to reason that a fair amount of notice was put out nonetheless, all circumstances considered.

Besides....don't ALL prizes-whether it's a door prize at a bowlers banquet or a multi hundred million dollar Lottery all contain statutory limits for redemption?

That's just... weird*hypnot**eyepop*

Why would someone not respond? I dunno...

Well that's ok. It's his loss. I gave my word to the TH community that I was going to offer up two potential items in recognition of the two year anniversary, with at least one guranteed winner. I still intend to keep my word and make sure that someone wins something. So no one won "Name Those Tunes". Oh well. "Pick A Number" is a much simpler style. I just have to figure out HOW to do it. Once again I'm in the schizoid situation of struggling to GIVE away a really nice set of tape[s]. *headache* *bang*

Hi,

Apologies here. Had PC trouble and it took a few days to repair it. My fault! Happy birthday, Tape Heads. May you have many, many more!

It took me over a week to get my DSL modem replaced by my carrier...

The other one is losing the bodies in Outlook Express.

Do you still have the prize or does he get the Turtle Wax and Top Ramen Cup O' Noodles?

Sale ot the Century is a Reg Grundy Production!

To bring the contest to proper closure, I am going to split the difference.

Kent T: Was the original winner.

El Monte Slim: Was second place.

Whichever of those two makes the first reply to this message within 24 hours of it being posted gets the prize. Post it here. Don't send me a PM. Once I see the message, I will contact you.

This is how it should work out, since Kent T. WAS the winner, and I am sympathetic to anyone having computer problems.

Real life sometimes gets in the way of "Reel Life".

Well how about that, no arguments and such. Not much of an acceptance speech but at least we have a possible winner.

PM sent, Reel Life is beginning. Cue Otaris!

P.S. Wild week at casa de Kent T. PC gets malware. My car gets crashed into and it is a total loss. I have been dealing with insurance companies, doctors, and physical therapists like crazy. Good news, I will have a larger car out of it paid for. I get my check today. Gotta turn in my rental late today or early tomorrow. I have spina bifida and still making arrangements to get hand controls installed on my upcoming Volvo 960. Just remember, Tapeheads.net and your favorite recorder and tapes is better than Prozac or psychotherapy. Reel on, brothers and sisters.

Congrats.
Sad to hear about your week.
My video card took a dump also, handy to have a son in law with spare parts.
Sometimes life just is not fair.
Keep your chin up,it will get better.

Kent has selected the pair of Maxell XLI 35-90B reel tapes as his prize. They have been mailed off as of this morning. He should get them sometime before the middle of next week. I trust he'll enjoy them and be sure to see these items as a reminder that Tapeheads is the best and does have its benefits.

Tapeheads.net is the best place for all tape fanatics, regardless of make. Every analog lover should join. If not, do so now. My reels are spinning at the upcoming sight of XL1 tape. The Otari loves it. Enjoy all of you here, you make life much better and help with keeping the decks in top condition. Thanks, Des-Lab for such an excellent forum. *reelspin*

Des-Lab and all,

The XL-I arrived today! In superb condition and amazingly fast. The Otari will be in record mode shortly. Just cleaned and demagged the heads in preparation for the session. Many thanks! I am giddy at more Maxell running through the heads.
