Hello all you tapeheads out there!
A few may recognize me from other parts unmentionable, so I'll keep it quick and to der point.
Been an audio freak since 3 when I stole my Dad's stereo back in 1972 and took it upstairs. God my butt beat and did it again 2 days later. I was a stubborn bassid, I tell ya.
For those who either grew up as a miltary brat or was in the military, I was that kid who always got kicked out of the exchange "sight and sound" section. "Volume controls were neat things to be TURNED UP".
Got back into all this just a few months ago. Got a decent "mutt system" up and running, including my old Yamaha KX-W602. I believe I bought that when I was in Diego Garcia (for those not familiar, think "Gilligan's Island" in the middle of the Indian Ocean). Paid like.. errr.. 280 or so for it in 92. I just dusted it off, cleaned the heads (ey! anyone got a demag handy near Richmond VA??), and I daresay it still sounds pretty good.
And yeah... I listened to Lady Ayeka preaching the praises of the D1S. Snagged a broke unit off of ebay awhile back, and was able to get it half-functioning. LA - YOU AINT KIDDIN'
Well, after a pretty bad abortive recap job (note to self - you can't see as well as you could before, get some d*mn glasses!) it no-workie anymore at all. So whaddoido?? - I have one coming right now from WA state and paid a decent price for it. Can't wait.. heheh.
So there's me story. Seems like compared to other places, tapeheads.net to me is a bit more laid back and 'tolerant'. So here I am! Howdy howdy!!
