hey. i like sony tape decks. so when i say this sony tc-k730es on ebay i thought, well, i have a k700es and i love it. and i can't tell the difference except for the chonks of fake wood and the left sided sony emblem so. i won the auction. 61 bucks. plus 63.75 for shipping.
if any of y'all had bid on it, i'm sorry. but it came today. and, i guess you should really be grateful that you didn't win. it's in rough shape. i don't know what is up. the heads are rusted... pitted with rust. in the pic they looked dirty but in real life they are pitted with rust. can you imagine? it's like a horror movie. i used to worry about the heads on my k700 but these are nuts. playback is obviously horrid and recording is a nightmare. the bias dial is scratchy. the record level knob was loose. the entire chassis is black unlike the k700 but it's covered in white spots. like, dusty lil white spots.
i don't even know what to do. i guess i'm gonna keep it. i could get a refund but i'd be out 64 bucks and have nothing. i guess i'd rather have the deck as like, well the pinch rollers are in pretty good condition, and like... i guess there are other bits and pieces in it too that i could use for my k700 if i need.
sigh. i guess it's good. it's like an experiment deck. it's a high end deck that i can take apart and put together and things like that. a learning machine. i'm kind of excited in that way but i'm also a bit irritated about the "very good condition" of this deck. i was excited to have another beautiful k700 with chonks on it. and no remote sensor logo. it has the sensor. but no 'R' logo highlighting where the sensor is.
sigh.
