Sad Wave! Good-bye Mr. Hayes, good-bye Chef, I grew up on 70's black, funk, power horn sections, big female back-up singers...... The dude was smooooth, went his own way musically, he will be missed, R.I.P.

"Hot Buttered Soul" is a good album; I have it on CD & vinyl. He will be missed.

I heard his music first in around 1972. I didn't think of his style being like Percy Sledge at the time - soul was a pretty flexible term. I really enjoyed it - I was trying to search for some of his early stuff a few weeks ago. He did quite a lot of acting too. He will be remembered.
