I don't mean to generate controversy but any suggestions for an excellent, non-bank breaking 3 head deck? I have heard of various naks, how about specific other models/lines, like denon etc. Also hoping for low maintenance. Thanks Norm

look into a PIONEER CT-S800. IDENTICAL to the CT-91/91a save for the copper anadization and rosewood panels. plus, it generally runs for much less than the 91...

Revox B-215, buy one for $300-$400 and send it to JMT for service, and you'll end up with one honey of a deck.

Yamaha made some good decks that seem to fly under the radar as far as cost.
And most parts are still available.
Vintagecassette.com is a good source of info on all cassette models.

Vintagecassette.com is a good source of info on all cassette models.

Except that Vintagecassette.com has plenty of untrue info on a number of different decks.

You get Tandberg TCD 330 or 440A for very few coins.
Excellent decks.

I'll throw in another option and that is the ES series Sonys. Great decks- can be had cheap.

But the Tandberg, Nak, Or Revox would be my first choice if I could go that route.

I have only owned 2 three head decks. I like both of them. I have a Yamaha K-1000 and a Onkyo TA-TA2090. They both sound good and make nice recordings. But if I could only keep one it would be the Onkyo. It has a lot more features on it. Both decks are direct drive which I prefer.

I got my Nak CR-5A in April on a BIN for $199. Less that $220 total with shipping. Couldn't be happier!!*reelspin* *reelspin* *reelspin* *reelspin*

Denon. Denon DR-M20, or DRM-710 & -790. All superb decks (dual capstan) and can be had fairly cheaply on eBay.
