Maybe someone met me in the past in the Yahoo! reel to reel group.
I'm a small collector of r2r that lives in Spain. I'm 31 now and have been collecting some things since year 2000 more or less.
I like the machines and the reels, so I try to collect the pieces that I like.
Nowadays my small collection is composed by the next machines:
- Pioneer RT-909 (2 units)
- Pioneer RT-707 (2 units)
- Akai GX-77
- Grundig TS-1000
- Grundig TK-146
- Teac X-2000R
- Pioneer RT-1020H
- Revox B77 MKII (super low speed version. 15/16 ips and 1 7/8 ips)
All of them work perfectly and are maintained by myself. I've more reel to reel machines but they are not in good shape and are waiting until some day I want to repair them, but none of them are "hi end".
Also, I made a blog dedicated to reel to reel that is called ReelToReel World. You can visit it here:
http://reeltoreelworld.blogspot.com/
I'd like to participate in this forum to learn and to try to help anyone if I can.

Hi Reeler,
Hope you enjoy it here. That's quite a collection of desirable R-Rs. I know far too little about those big beauts.
Cheers - Marc

Hello and Welcome!
I'm curious as to how the low speed version of the B77 sounds since its as slow as cassettes and slower.

Thanks to all for the welcome.
About the sound quality of the B77 super low speed, the machine has a lot of hours on it and the heads aren't in the best shape. The result is that the sound isn't as good as it's supossed to be. High frequences are lost, but the difference between 1 7/8 and 15/16 is very noticeable. At 15/16 you can't listen music, it really sounds bad.

I lived in Cadiz Province from 1991 until 1994. I lived in a apartment with a terrace right over the beach.
I loved the food, the music, the culture and the people. I didn't like the lack of water. It was bad enough when I was there that it got to the point that the town only turned on the city water pumps for 3 hours a day.
Despite that, I would live there again in a minute. My daughter was made, but not born in Spain.
I don't supposed Spain is experiencing a shortage of engineers with a graduate degree in business, are they?

No, they aren't :) I think there're too many engineers all over there. I lived in Cadiz province also for eight years, in the Rota Naval base, and the lack of water happened in that years, but no more, but I was born in the north west of the country, not in the south and nowadays I live close to Barcelona, in the north east *reelspin* but I don't like the south music... but the food is really good
Maybe the most wanted in Cadiz are the naval engineers, but who knows, I'd like to live there again, they have the best weather.
About the food, the good part is that in all the country the food is superb, much better than the food made by the french's... hope there's no any french guy reading this ;) hehe *hope*
