I did a little digging at my local used book store where I can usually find some good pre-recorded cassettes, older, but good quality sealed 80's-90's blanks and high-grade mix tapes. It's a bit of a chore sorting through all the wall racks, but gems can be discovered.

A few days ago I bought six such assorted tapes. Besides the Emerson Lake & Palmer, I really have been enjoying Jean-Michel Jarre's " The Concerts In China, Vol. 2." The JMJ tape is unusual as there is an extra track, not available on the CD counterpart. And no stencilling of the tracks on the cassette shell. Even the J-card is not regular paper stock. This recording is decent, especially for a Live one.

Hey Scorp (moderator),

Maybe we should have a Pre-Recorded Cassette/R2R spin list??

Shifting hats ....

I usually post whatever I'm listening to in the current rock/jazz/classical threads. I'm not sure we need to differentiate on what format it is, despite the "vinyl spin list".

How fun. I'm a huge Jarre fan- still have a first-pressing Oxygene that I bought in... uh... 1976, I think?

Hey Pacific Stereo!! Welcome to Tapeheads!! I remember spending a lot of time at Pacific Stereo near the University District off of 45th in Seattle. It was one of my favorite stereo retailers back in the days.Have fond memories of drooling over the cool audio gear *drool*,and walking out with only brochures. Hi Biff,

Thanks! I hadn't thought I would begin buying used pre-recorded cassettes, as I usually bought all the new releases back in the 70's-80's. But, if I don't have the title in LP or CD, I will buy the occasional tape. What I find even better are older mix tapes recorded on vintage cassettes. I felt, I could re-record over them, but they've been too well made to copy over.

I have that JMJ album on vinyl, along with several others. Very cool! Great cassette find!

Is it just me, or does that tape look like it could be a Fuji FR-I ?
