Here is an old photo of my current power amp
15W, RCA 7027A Guitar Tubes in Triode mode. This thing just gets better and better the better the source that feeds it. I've had a string of power amps over the years but nothing comes close to this old bugger. Oh and cost, a mate left it here and never came back for it !!!! the photo does not show the separate power supply.
Cheers

Nice! I've been on a hunt for an old console with a tube setup for awhile to cannibalize for an amplifier, but no luck todate. The hunt continues ....

It seems to me from my experience that to get nice warm tube sound you really only need one component in the chain. It can be a pre (which is probably the best spot), power amp, or even a tube output stage on your CD or tape deck. Were there any cassette tape decks ever made with a tube output stage apart from the Luxman offerings?

I have only built one amp so far-- a headphone amp built around the TI OPA2134 chip. Sounded excellent while it lasted, but i stripped it down in an effort to re-engineer it and never actually did *eyepop*
Next up for me is going to be a Bottlehead S.E.X. kit...they just look incredible and I keep hearing great things.
