I'm not sure if it's been doing this all along, or I've just noticed it. When playing MA-XG's on the Lux, I get some staticy pops from the leader both of them, begining and the end one, the Nak is dead silent when playing them. The decks are in two diff rooms, I have the A/C running, it's a big house, and it's F'n hot this time of year, 105F today *devil*, the moisture levels are supposed to rise today as storms build back in.

I'm really not sure what this is all about or, how long it's been happening, I don't drink or do drugs, even though it may seem that way sometimes *hypnot* it's not a big issue, I'm just curious.

Does sound suspiciously like static charges...on a plastic leader section of tape?? Sounds odd to me,but who knows,with the right conditions...try grounding the cassette deck chassis to the receiver...do you think that might help?? Rob

Is it ONLY on the leader sections? You might try rolling the tape thru with a pencil in the reel hub and examining the leader to see if any crud has built up on it.

Yep, just the plastic leader part, which looks brand new on all of them, perfect condition, clear-see-thru, checking it further just now, it seams to get worse just at the splice to the tape, as in, a couple soft pops then a larger one right before the tape part starts.

Again, it's not that loud, sounds similar to a pop on an LP, it's just annoying now that I know it's doing it, it might be doing it while music is playing *dunno* I tend to play loud. I don't hear it then. I hate things like this, hum, RFI noises drive me batty. Probably why I've not taken the tube plunge Yet

It doesn't do it with other tapes, and it's only the Lux, Dale's Kenny is so far out of spec, I don't hear it on that one (also in yet another room). I just looked outside, still Hot and dry no alien spaceships about *eyepop*
