I don't know if my little Wollensak 3000 ($2.00 Goodwill find ) qualifies me to hang out with real tapeheads. I can tell you right now that you guys and gals cover everything here, R/R, 8 Track and vinyl. I don't know if I'll be able to contribute much but what little I know I will try to share with everyone. I have a number of combo players with 8 track, cassette and turntables so I know this place will be great help in keeping them going. I just bought a 60's 8-track in a neat wood cabinet with speakers built in. The capstan was frozen solid in it, little bit of work and it came back to life. Recently found a Pioneer turntable that didn't work on Freecycle.org the tray wouldn't retract in and out, tore into that and found the belt had broken. Its working now, temporary fix though on tray drive belt. Finding something for a couple dollars is my thing ( Free is even better), then tearing into them , cleaning, tweeking and putting them back together and it actually working is priceless. Love old car players, in fact a car player is what first got me started with the 8 tracks. Traded a guy in Wisconsin a belly pan for a VW Bus for a 60's Muntz in the original box, used and worn but still nice. thats in Olde Leroy my VW bus. So far I have never seen any R/R tapes in any yardsales or thrift shops but hopefully I will find some eventually. Sorry for the windy rambling.

Dude, you're gonna fit right in. Everybody has something to contribute, and don't be afraid to just jump right in as the water's fine and the sharks feed elsewhere. Welcome!

Hey Larry N,

Don't worry. You're Wollensak 3000 qualifies you! Many of us here are just beginning to learn about the vintage analog audio machines we love. It's only in recent years I've acquired stuff I only dreamed about owning 30 years ago & could never have afforded. I could care less about the black plastic digital junkdrain. In fact, I am completely and utterly out of date and proud of it!!

Welcome Larry N*reelspin*_*reelspin*. Isn't that Wollensak a 5" reel machine? I think I might have had the same model back when... it was my first 'serious' tape recorder.

The second one is my roomies '72 Van, that thing scares the shit outta me, I'm a very bad passenger, I've worn out the rubber floor mats pushing on the imaginary brake pedal*yikes*
We like pics!
