Hi all,
Tape situation is grim to say the least in Aus. Tried searches on the web, nothing but expensive low noise tapes. Tried a look locally same story. Went to a local Lo-Fi store I used to use and surprise, got 13 of these suckers for AUD $50.00. Is this score good bad or just ugly
Best Regards

The Fuji Z is a capable blank, not the worst by any stretch, you can always sell them on, at profit, if you're unhappy with them. If I came across a batch I'd snap them up.

Try and source some tapes from the largest and nearest locations to you - Malaysia or Japan.
Ebay Taiwan and South Korea might seem obscure but ultimately worthwhile if you can negotiate the site heiroglyphics, patience and dedication required.

I've had fairly good experience with this, a steady supply of sealed blank cassettes, no rip offs or issues with humidity etc.

One obvious caveat; if it sounds to good to be true avoid, there was a batch of Sony Super Metal Masters being sold very cheaply a few years back and AFAIK were all duds if the posts on Tape Trail were anything to go by.

Alternatively you could suggest an exchange from your fellow Tapeheads.

Thanks for the tips. Will give Malaysia, Singapore, Japan a try

I don't know about the tapes but, I'm diggin' that pen *hypnot* is it a knock off or an original tri-color from the 60's?

Hi Gamve,

Fuji Metal Z is a first rate type IV - animated and fresh sounding, excellent retentivity and the cutest box. Keep 'em all, and ration yourself appropriately, keeping them for demanding and special recordings.

Cheers - Marc

You shoot, you score! 13 metal tapes for 50 clams is a very good score.
