IP Ban

A family member tried to look at something on the "other" site and the screen said IP banned.
Is this normal or legal?
I can see how a website can prevent you from logging in but not being able to view it was something I never heard of.
I guees I am just naive when it comes to how the internet really works.
Does this mean just my own computer or all that are on my connection?

You should be able to view it on another computer using a different internet connection, not your own connection. You can also always change your IP address if you feel the need to.

Any computer connected to the same internet connection will not be able to access that site because its all under the same IP address. If you go to a different computer that uses a different connection, then its a different IP address. Also you can change your own IP address if you need to or use a Proxy server which will display different addresses to sites that use this info.

My son was trying to look up something on a turntable.
I erased the bookmark myself,I have no reason to revisit that site .
I believe that every visit on a site generates income for that site, I will not help generate income for certain sites.
Of course I could be wrong and don't know what I am talking about.???

You have to delete the AK cookie through the settings of Firefox/IE, and you can read it as guest.
