Teresa- you still here?
Anyway it seems some people just don't get what good cassettes can sound like. I agree CDs are not the end all be all of music reproduction. The fact some music recorded from CDs sound better on tape says something.
Anyway I'd thought I'd point the thread out to some on here in case they want to jump in.

well, that was special (not to mention a difficult read on an ancient format to boot) *headache*
"Please pick on a different person and a different format. I will not be tricked by you or anyone else to denounce the format I love. I beginning to believe that you are evil as there is no way in hell you could own a Nakamichi cassette and possible be able to enjoy what passes for music on crummy shit CDs. You are very, very, very, very, sad and I feel sorry for you. I will pray for you." -Theresa

*wave*I sorry I haven't dropped by in a while but I've been busy trying to upgrade my selling to eBay to a full fledged business. It just got postal scales yesterday. I lost my Job as a customer service agent and I don't want another job working for someone else. I want to work for myself and do what I like. I do get paid for articles I write for PFO but that is not enough to live on. So my plan is thrift shopping for profit. Instead of just buying for myself I am looking at things that have collector value and not just LPs and tapes but everything. Also may buy some stuff in bulk to resale when I grow my business more. *hope* My handle is Analoguelover on eBay.
I will try to drop by Tapeheads at least a couple of times a week. Thanks for linking the thread from AA. *Hi5*
All the best,
Teresa ;)

Hi Theresa,
I visited your verbal skirmish at AA Hi-Rez and left a supportive note for you there and also hopefully annoy those goons Rich and Bupka in the process.
You must have realised by now that these guys’ biggest beef is that they have spent a massive amount of money on their equipment and its seriously upsetting if they are told that their latest acquisition is barely better than something 20 years older and a supposedly inferior technology. Worse still when it’s not even as good. When you politely suggest this, all they have to offer is deprecation. And of course, that trusty old chestnut “we’ve all got experience with cassettes…” And then another quotes a few better tape types and we’re all going to be impressed!! Yeah, right.
Let me tell you something I suspect about Rich. He hasn’t got a Nakamichi Dragon. Not now, and never had. That’s why it’s the “Dragon”. Course it is - it’s the only model these hi-fi semi-literates even know. How much more authentic his argument would appear if he actually owned “reputedly” the best that the very technology you espouse right there and yet, it was hopeless, sub par, on its way out, being sold pronto because it was patently inferior etc. Drivel. If it was as obsolete/inferior to the extent he claims why does he still have it nearly 25 years after its market introduction. He’s talking though his hat.
Long live tape. And as for vinyl being so good and I love it – don’t get me wrong – but suggesting that if your tape sounds better than the vinyl stage then there’s something wrong with your playback chain…. More twaddle. The vast majority of vinyl started life on tape. Listen to the Roxette concert in Santiago, Chile (early 90s). It is a fantastic, crystal clear, atmospheric recording, testing the limits of frequency extremes for any gear. It was recorded on a pair of Nak Dragons because the power supply to the pair of Panasonic DAT decks stopped working and there was no time to sort it out. The media was Sony Metal Master by the way. For all I know, these twits will be waxing lyrical about the merits of the SACD of this performance and that some other format doesn’t cut the mustard.
Nothing wrong with SACD though – I too like the Sony coding system.
But I fear that an open minded, God-fearing guy like you has outgrown that environment. I don’t think they are necessarily bigots in other aspects of their lives, but I imagine they have a predictable commitment to defend their expenditure in this instance. A sort of post-cognitive purchase disorder.
Cheers - Marc

Teresa, *wave* back, good luck, PM me your address if you like and I'll send you a good luck dollar to put in your work area. I believe in karma and keeping up the old traditions of yore, as well as analog as my primary source of listening pleasure *Hi5* !
edit: I'll just buy something from you, I'm sure you'd let me pay with a USPS money order, I'll send the lucky buck with it!
Marc Hugo, *hearts* I love ya Man! You are a true schloar and a gentleman! I love the way you have with words. If I ever make it to South Africa, I'd like to shake your hand and buy you a beverage, talk shop and all that. Thank you, sir *Hi5*

Great Craig!! Glad you enjoyed my diatribe and that's a deal. If you get across here then we're duty bound to murder a brace of bitterly cold Winhoeks. Enjoy the weekend---Marc

I've noticed some board members get very defensive about their opinions.
Ford versus Chevy,etc.
I am not brand loyal, format loyal either.
If it sounds good I will listen to it.
When you mention that LP's are made from tapes they don't know what to say.

Hi Stuwee*wave*
Thanks for the wish of good luck. If you decide to purchase something Money Order is fine if you don't like PayPal. I believe in karma as well and every thing is of course guaranteed. I play grade everything which is rare on eBay. I will be listing about 200 LPs and a handful of DVD-Audios but no tapes at this time.
All the best,
Teresa

*wave* Thanks for the wish of good luck. *Hi5* My overseas shipping is exact cost plus $1 for box and packing material. I just got a postal scale yesterday so I can figure the weight exactly. If you collect LPs I'll be listing a couple of hundred, many audiophile but all in Mint or close to condition as I am very picky about what I listen to and collect. All play graded of course. *check**check*

*wave* I too was thinking that Rich might be fibbing about owning a Dragon. *fit* Wow a master tape made on a Dragon because the DATs power supply broke down. *reelspin* I wonder how many cassette haters love that Roxette concert? One small correction, it's God-fearing girl.
All the best,
Teresa

Hi Teresa,
Sorry about that - my inattention. My ex-wife has a penchant for tube amps, panel speakers and MC cartridges. Specifically the VDH Grasshopper. So, you are not alone!!
Hi Close652 - will investigate. My recording included excerpts from this '92 concert and was done for me by a connection, Lars Falt in Sweden. I haven't gone through their discography yet. A guy who worked with me at Wild Coast Sun as sound manager worked for the recording engineer (Anders Herrlin) on that event. This is how I got the low down on the things that went pear shaped back stage on the night. Because Herrlin was also the bass guitarist, Richard Dobbin was really the hands-on techie. The recording to get (indicated by Lars in his J-card) is the live event at San Carlos Alpoqindo - I shall try to root it out.
